Alline Rowan (nee Spencer) lived in Melbourne, Australia, Married to Clive Rowan she was the daughter of Professor Baldwin Spencer (1860-1929). She visited Terra Nova with her father when the ship called at Australia during the British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-1913 (leader Robert Falcon Scott). Her father, professor of biology at Melbourne University between 1887-1919 knew Scott and his wife Kathleen.
