Born in New Jersey in 1917, Beatrice B. Ettinger was a graduate of the University of Miami Law School and active in a variety of organizations including the Florida League of Women Voters, the National Displaced Homemaker Network, and the Learning Institute for Elders. She was instrumental in establishing the Central Florida Educational Consortium for Women at Valencia Community College and was president of the Council until 1986; in 1991 the Council moved to the University of Central Florida where it continued with its work in association with the Women's Studies Program.
