Davis, Nathaniel Hart, 1815-1893

Attorney Nathaniel Hart Davis (1815-1893) grew up in Alabama, before attending Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. After moving to Texas, he joined the Somervell Expedition (1847) under Col. Joseph L. Bennett. In 1851, Davis married Sarah Elizabeth White, with whom he had seven children and several grandchildren, including Nat Hart Davis and Margaret Davis Cameron. He then served as a Montgomery County commissioner, chief justice, and judge of the Thirteenth Judicial District (1867-1870). With his brother James R. Davis, he also partnered in a private practice law firm.
