Blodgett received a honorary AM from Dartmouth College in 1870 and a honorary LL D in 1900. He was born in Canaan, N.H. in 1838. He served as a judge on the New Hampshire Supreme Court from 1880 to 1898. In 1898 he became Chief Justice. He married Sarah Gerould in 1861; they had a daughter, Anna. He died Franklin, N.H. in 1905.
