Broun, W. Leroy (William Leroy)

Broun was born in Loudoun County, Va., was educated at the University of Virginia, served in the Confederate Army with ordnance and artillery, was President of the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Georgia 1872-1875. From 1892-1897 he served as executive officer of the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station in Auburn and was on its board until his death. He served as President of the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama from 1884-1902. He was instrumental in the development of agricultural education in the United States.
