Meigs, Margaret Houston, 1891-1970

Margaret Corlies Houston Meigs (1891-1970) was the granddaughter of Henry Howard Houston. Henry Howard Houston (1820-1895) was a prominent Philadelphia businessman and philanthropist. As an executive of the Pennsylvania Railroad and a property developer, he helped establish the affluent neighborhood of Chestnut Hill. He built the Wissahockon Inn, later used by the Chestnut Hill Academy, and the Philadelphia Cricket Club.
Margaret married Robert R. Meigs. She co-founded the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education in 1965.
