Teatro Campesino (Organization)
El Teatro Campesino began in 1965 with short performances in the fields of California's Central Valley for audiences of farmworkers. By 1970 the Teatro had gained an international reputation and had inspired the formation of many other Chicano/Hispanic theater companies. It is now considered the most influencial of such theater companies.
