Resumen
The use of three color constancy algorithms for enhancement purposes on dark images is presented in this article. Three well-known algorithms, the White-Patch, the Gray-World, and the Gray-Edges, offer good performance for determining the illuminant in a scene. In this work, we explore the use of these simple algorithms for image enhancement, particularly for the processing of scenes under low lightness conditions. A total of 529 dark images are processed using the three algorithms and the outcomes are compared for evaluation purposes measuring the color content they exhibit. For this, the average of chroma in the CIELAB space is used as the measurement unit. Experimental results show that these color constancy algorithms are a powerful tool for dark image enhancement.
