本作品は幼兒防空訓練指導の爲の作品であって、日本少國民文化協會から撰定推獎を受けた作品である。
作品の內容に就いていへば、警戒警報發令に相ついで空襲警報が 發令されてゐる点は、防空對策解說の便宜上やむを得なかった。空襲を夜にする事を考へたが、ねてゐる子供達を作品の上に扱ふのに まだ自信がもてなかった。
又壕中の待避の仕方については、繪畫に俟つところが多いから、實演者は其の点を深く考慮してほしいと思ふ。

Oh my! Sumi-chan, you are a bad girl. Oh! Nao-chan too. This is our dear air-raid shelter. Don’t do mischief here.

NAO-CHAN
Why not, sister Eiko? Why can’t we do mischief in the air raid shelter?

We play hide-and-seek from the enemies in the air-raid shelter when enemy planes fly by. We need to keep it tidy so we can play hide and seek whenever we need to.

NAO-CHAN
Hmmm. Enemy planes? When do they come?

SISTER EIKO
We don’t know when they will come. That’s why we need to prepare ourselves for whenever they come. Do you understand?

NARRATOR
False security is the greatest enemy.

We don't know when American or British planes will air raid us. We are vigilant day and night, watching the North, the South, the mountains, and the seas.

A warning siren. It's been ringing for a long time, hasn't it?

Come on everyone, let's go inside the house.

Go, go, walk, like a colt. Japanese colts are strong. They cross over the mountains, climb up the slopes, and even walk in jungles.
Proceed. Walk. And when it rains, or a warning siren rings, let's play at home.

KAN-CHAN
I'm home.

NAO-CHAN
Oh, Kan-chan is home.

MIYO-CHAN
Kan-chan, it’s a fight signal.

KAN-CHAN
What? Miyo-chan, a fight signal?

SUMI-CHAN

It’s a “warning signal.”

Kan-chan, were you scared?

KAN-CHAN

You should wear a headcover. If you show your bare arms and legs, enemies will find you. Get ready and go to the air-raid shelter with Sumi-chan, and bring your toys. It’s time for hide-and-seek with enemy planes. Your doll, Chii-chan, is waiting for you.

Your service [to the Emperor] begins with a “yes.” This is what children can do to serve [the Emperor].

All the children listen to their mothers and enter the air-raid shelter quickly like bunnies.
They enter, orderly without pushing one another.
Kan-chan brings his school kit, Nao-chan, and Sumi-chan their picture books. They have not forgotten their wooden blocks, either. Miyo-chan has a doll with her.
Oh, their cat Mike is also following them.

OK, enemies, you can come and attack us anytime. No matter how many enemy planes come, we will be OK! Mothers are protecting the children outside. Sister Eiko is with their children.

Let’s listen to her quietly. Let’s listen to her with good manners. Nao-chan, Hiko-chan, Sumi-chan, and Miyo-chan all listen to her like grown-ups.
Ok. Come on, enemies. We are ready to meet enemy planes.
