Sherwood Forest June 21. 1849 My Dear Sir: I have but a moment to say that I received last night a letter from Sam Casey at Washington, who will return to Kentucky in July, informing me that a company is organizing in Louisville for the purchase of the Union land, and desiring me to say what I will take for it, so that they may visit me bringing [?] the purchase money with them. He says they will bray for cash. I dispatch this to Swineyards this morning under a desire to hear from you without a moments delay and have no time to say more. Shall I say $20,000 for the land or what? Your letter adverting to this subject merely stated that you would weigh a proposition for that sum. We rec[ieve]d last night A California Newspaper of the 1. May with David's autograph. He is there fore safely landed. All well here In haste Yrs [?] J. Tyler Alex. Gardiner Esq. Send on in due season acceptance for the two notes falling due in July. Swineyards Va June 21 J. Tyler Free Alexander Gardiner Esq Clerk U. S. Circuit Court New York City with dispatch
