Washington March 6. 1817
Dear sir
Yours of 22.d of Feby. is just received. We are now on the eve of departure. J.Q. Adams is appointed Secy. of State, Crawford Secy. of Treasury, & Isaac Shelby of Kenty. Secy. of war. It is supposed the latter will decline.—Monroe's inaugural address you will have seen before this will reach you.
Mr. Dana and I have been labouring at the office for the payment of part at least of our amounts, & we shall obtain 50,000 dolls. I believe—You may expect soon to hear more, at present perhaps, it is best to say nothing on the subject. We shall not leave here till something is done.
In great haste I am truly yours
David Daggett
