Hill's division) to his wife Martha Elizabeth 'Pat' Hutchinson Pollard at 'Rosewood' in the upper part of King and Queen County, Virginia. Sent from "Chaffin's Farm." He writes that his illness mentioned in his last letter was not so great as she fears. They are building winter quarters. He mentions the battle at Sharpsburg. He sends $100, asks her to send some potatoes, and asks about the farm and salt supplies. Typescript.
