Davis writes Lucinda to inform her that he is in his usual good health and that the Corps is still in Jonesboro working on the railroad bridge. He notes that about half of the regiment has re-enlisted in the Veteran Service, however he declares that once his three years are up he will be returning home. Davis notes that the cold spell has passed, and they are experiencing warmer weather. He also writes that he received a letter from Belle and David Ingersoll, who he looks forward to coming home and talking with. Davis wishes Lucinda would get her ambrotype taken and send it to him, as he plans to send her his own once he reaches Huntsville.
