U.S. President Barack Obama speaks at the United States Military Academy commencement
President Barack Obama delivers the commencement address at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. He praises the accomplishments of the cadets and recognizes the occasion as the first time the top two cadets are both female. Obama describes the challenges that await the graduates in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as the challenges facing the country in a global economy. He talks about international alliances, diplomatic efforts and economic assistance as programs undertaken to help preserve a peace protected by the U.S. military. He declares that Americans are resilient and unbowed.
